Prayer resources for ADVENT

Please use these simple prayer resources to hep you in your preparation for Christmas. The weekly themes of ADVENT are HOPE, LOVE, JOY and PEACE and using some Advent Candles at home is a good way to mark the weeks of Advent in your domestic setting. Making an advent ring of candles is as simple as you want it to be. Just use 3 purple candles, a pink one and an white one - or even just 5 candles if you cannot get some coloured ones! If you download the Advent Candles leaflet you will find the prayer for lighting each candle at home - we shall be using it in church each Sunday too. It is a good way to gather your household together and recall the themes for the week amidst the hustle and bustle of Christmas around us nowadays. Have a happy and Holy Advent. Advent Candles

An Advent Retreat - Introduction
Welcome to this year’s Advent retreat, created to offer you the opportunity to take a step back from the pressing concerns of everyday life, to reflect prayerfully on the current state of your relationships, with God, with the people around you, and with the world in which you live. To help and guide your prayer this Advent, we are focussing on the Prologue of the Gospel of John. This retreat offers you an opportunity to take some time out from the busyness of your life and come to a renewed awareness of the presence of Christ in your life and in His closeness to you. You are invited to deepen your relationship with Him; to welcome Him into your life this Christmas in a new way, and not to be afraid to radiate the light of His love.
