Introduction:- As we beging to emerge from the last 18 months of restrictions we can begin to sing in church buildings again. The challenge of singing with a mask cannot be overstated and many people find it a most disturbing exerience when trying to praise the Lord. During the coming months we shall be seeing how we get on. If we cannot manage a full sung mass then we shall revert to the two hymns that we have been using for the last month or so. As we get used to enjoying music in church again we shall beging to realise in a new way what we have missed during the second two lockdowns. Emerging into 2022 we shall doubtless want to have conversations about our music in church - what we like and don't like, what we want to move on from and develop further, and as we look to the new revised 1982 liturgy, how our music can support the new liturgy's ethos in worship. The language of some of our hymns is problematic for many nowadays and we can look to the many great hymn writers of the 21st century to help us reflect on what "good" worship is as we look forward and work for the renewal of worship across the Diocese and within our Charges. But for now we begin by seeing how we get on with our sung mass setting again.

We are churches of all sorts of families and households. There are people who come to church alone, with friends, with partners, wives, husbands.....and their dog. The Scottish Episcopal Church welcomes people of all sexualities, discovering who we are is a life-long process for all of us. Both of the churches in this United Benefice welcome LGBT people, their friends and partners. We have worked hard at being a safe space for people to come and discover the depth of their faith, to feed on the jewels of the scriptures and feast on the sacraments. Same-sex couples can be married in both churches too. Come and join us with your household to find out more about belonging in the Scottish Episcopal Church - you are welcome!
